Assignment of ‘Okkupation’, a manifestation about urban public space

    Location:
Saalbau theater and the underground drain system on Richardplatz, Neukölln

The research of Norbert Mayer showed a connection between measurements of vibrancies that he found on several locations in Neukölln. These locations were all placed on a straight line that crossed Berlin, the so called Berlin meridian. The different sounds put together formed a part of an old indian song. We found Mayers personal mythology worth being archived for the inhabitants of the Berlin community.

To get his story known we published Mayer’s research results, his interpretation of the sounds and the messages he found, including an interview with him in theater Saalbau in Neukoelln. The old indian song was made hearable in the drain system of Berlin.

    Amsterdam, 2011
    Site-specific installation
    Location: Victorieplein, Amsterdam

Materials used: iron; foam; flowers; rope; flag
    Dimensions tent: w: 200 cm h: 200 cm l: 300 cm
The former ideas of the architect H. Berlage were honored as a reaction to the actual political attitude towards the arts.
In order to rehabilitate his ideas five emergency tents were made of flowers (hyacinths and tulips) and placed around the monument that was erected for him.

    Special thanks to:
    Bloemencorso Bollenstreek
    Jongerenvereniging X-Out
All volunteers that helped putting the flowers on place.
